Brave New World Essay

In this essay I will write about a character in brave new world that need to show his feelings differently on the outside, but on the inside he feels differently. Bernard is a character in brave new world who tries to fit in the society and be successful, but he can't because all the people start by judging him by his look and they never give him a chance to do what him want to do. First, in chapter 4 in brave new world, Bernard wanted to be like Henry foster or Benito hoover because Henry and Benito didn't have to yell a lot, for people to obeyed them. Bernard just try to be happy with all the things he has but sometimes he feel sad because he really want to be happy and not pretend to be happy in front of the society. In the society Bernard show himself happy, but is all over when he's alone because then he start to think about all the things that would actually make him happy. Bernard want to feel like human and he doesn't want to feel like the rest of the people, that are been condition. Second,  in chapter 6 it shows how Bernard would like to spend time with Lenina. Bernard considered electro - magnetic golf a waste of time and instead Bernard wanted to walk with Lenina, but Lenina thought that was unusual way to spend time and all the rest of the people think like Lenina. When Bernard look at the sea it makes him feel more of himself and not part of something else. Bernard want to be free and also want to be happy in his own way and not like everybody else's way. Finally, Bernard want to be able to feel free to do anything he wants to be successful, but that is not allowed in the society because in this society they want to be able to controlled all the people, by recommending all the people to use soma as a way to escape from their sadness and anger. the people in charge of the society called the controller wants to be able to do whatever they want and they don't mind if the society are suffering or not. Bernard want to be successful like the few people in the society, but he find himself with no chance to be successful because he doesn't get the same chance as those who are successful. Bernard has to be happy with all the things he has because he doesn't have other choice, than to just be happy with all the things he has. In conclusion, Bernard wants to be able to do the things he loves to do, but he find himself in a society that doesn't want any people to feel happy and free. Bernard wants to be happy in his own way, but he needs to pretend that he's happy with the society, so they wouldn't notice that Bernard is sad and that he dislike the way the rules are set for the society.
