What's So Great About Gatsby
Gatsby is great because he was nice to all the people and he would never do anything to hurt them and during his childhood he would set goal that he wanted to accomplish when he grew up. Nick is honest to himself because he would never lie, he would always be honest to himself and the reason why he hangs out with dishonest people is that, he wants to know the life their living because they were born rich and he was born poor, so all he wants to know is how their life is different from his. Fitzgerald describes Daisy and Tom this way:They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” What Fitzgerald meant was tom and daisy doesn't take responsibility over their actions, instead they let other people to help them out. Tom and daisy doesn't cared about others only themselves. I agree with what Fitzgerald said because that is the exactly thing that happened in the book because daisy didn't stand out for herself and say that she was the one that was driving the car when the accident happened instead she lets Gatsby take the blame. Daisy's behavior is not understandable because she lets other people helped her out and she knows it is not right but she doesn't do anything to avoid it. I wouldn't let daisy date any of the people that I relate to, because she's someone who doesn't take the responsibility that she need to take.
The last line of the book: "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. This line refers to how we all keep thinking about the past and the way we suffers and we think about the future as an excitement but then we forget about the present and all the great moments were having.
The last line of the book relates to the theme of the book because gatsby didn't want to be poor anymore so he sets goals for himself in the future, so he accomplish all he wanted but he forgot about himself and he only cared about daisy and he didn't realized about the great moments he was living.
